i-Taipei

Part 4

We had wanted to spend the last morning at a flower market and to buy some Chinese New Year's decoration. However, the trip would take about 1.5 hour one way, and we were really not in the mood to rush around.

Hence, we took a walk to the area around Taipei 101. There might not be much about the building, but it was a nice area for photo.

K & A were really having a fun time - trying to have their photo taken while jumping, haha! In the end, hubby and I decided to have one in front of 101 -  a less adventurous photo.

Somehow, whenever I see photo like the one above, I would usually be glad that I am not that tall :)

The trip ended on a good note - K&A got upgraded on the flight back to KL! Air Asia even played a birthday song for K upon touch down!

We missed a couple of places; Shilin night market, Jiu Fen and the flower market. Places that we went but did not manage to do what we were supposed to do - Shi Fen's spectacular waterfall and cycling @ Yu Ren Ma Tou.

I like the trip to the fabric centre - Yong Le, Xi Men Ding and Rao He. I like the night markets. I like the Taiwanese, they are helpful and polite. I like the environment; buildings are not brand new, but most places are clean. I like the public transport, they are affordable and efficient; it is really difficult to get lost with the train.

Traveling is getting a feel of the country's culture and people. Perhaps the next trip to Taipei would simply to visit (all!) the night markets!

Tip: For Singaporeans, you can consider changing your NT$ in Singapore or you can do the exchange at Taipei airport. The exchange rate for SGD was better in Taipei airport by ten cents or so (there was about two week difference from the time when I did the exchange in Singapore to reaching Taipei), but note that there is a small fee. It is not possible to find money changers on road, you have to do the exchange in a bank. Surprisingly, SGD was not accepted at the few banks we approached. In the end, we used our USD. The bank had a small fee too. For Malaysian, it make more sense to do the exchange in Malaysia. The exchange rate that we saw at the airport was really bad for the ringgit.
